Green dentistry: Assessing dental students' knowledge, understanding of, and compliance to amalgam waste disposal protocols through clinical audit

Introduction

Environmental protection is one of the pillars of sustainability in the NHS and the HTM 07-01 guidelines were introduced in the UK to ensure that waste amalgam is being disposed of in the correct manner and to limit the environmental impact of mercury pollution. The purpose of this study is to explore dental students' knowledge and understanding on various aspects of amalgam disposal at the University of Manchester Dental Hospital (UMDH).
