  • In spite of an expression of ‘cautious optimism’ after this year's meeting of the International Whaling Commission, and a recent Nature article which was optimistic about whale populations, there are still fears that all is not well in the whaling industry. Dr Sidney Holt, Director of the International Ocean Institute in Malta highlights some of the problems still confronting whale conservation and management.
