Dear Editor,

We read with interest a recent article in Pediatric Research entitled “Seizures in children undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: a systematic review and meta-analysis.” The authors conducted a meta-analysis to examine the incidence of seizures and short-term mortality associated with seizures in children undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) by summarizing data from the current literature. They emphasized that seizures were associated with increased short-term mortality and recommended electroencephalography monitoring for children receiving ECMO.1 After reading the full article, we would like to offer some superficial comments and look forward to discussing them with the authors.
