Endodontic treatment complexity and undergraduate training in primary care

Evidence suggests that undergraduates often report feeling ill prepared for complex surgical extractions and endodontics on completion of dental school.1,2Peninsula Dental School, University of Plymouth has a primary care based model of clinical delivery with patients presenting for treatment very much as they would in dental foundation practices. In this paper we give a student's perspective on some of the challenges students feel on carrying out endodontics and some tips on how these may be overcome. This may be relevant to not only undergraduates but dental foundation trainees as they transition from dental schools.

Treating complex patients on clinic as a dental student can be a challenging time. This can become even more complex when conducting endodontic treatment.
