Using photonics for information processing is a central pillar of optics research. Modern optics prioritizes ultra-compactness, high integration and high speed. Hence, the application of nanophotonics to information processing has been widely explored in last few decades. This collection aims to highlight cutting-edge research on photonic/optical neural networks, computational metaphotonics, photonic processors, optical computing, information encoding and others.

We encourage authors to share their latest research, innovations, and insights that push the boundaries of computation and information processing using nanophotonics. We welcome high-quality studies contributing (but not limited) to the following topics:

  • Advancements in photonic/optical neural networks, where the speed of light propels artificial intelligence through accelerated computation and enhanced parallel processing.
  • Computational metaphotonics, where the exotic light behavior can enable complex computational tasks, promising data processing and communication breakthroughs.
  • Emerging architectures of photonic processors, optical computing and the related ground-breaking technologies.
  • Imaging and image processing using nanophotonic platforms.
  • Information encoding, encryption, and communications using nanophotonics to represent and transmit data.
