About the Editors

Chief Editor: Thomas Dursch, PhD, Springer Nature, USA ORCiD

Tom joined the company in January 2023. He worked previously as the editor of Trends in Chemistry, where he led the launch of the title at Cell Press. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley; he also has experience as a postdoctoral researcher in Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and modeling and simulations engineer at Procter & Gamble. Tom’s research interests include a broad range of topics, such as polymer physics, heat and mass transfer, molecular thermodynamics, colloids and interfacial science, and numerical methods. Tom is based in New York, USA.

Associate Editor: Alessio Lavino, PhD, Springer Nature, UK

Alessio joined the company in May 2023. He worked previously as Postdoctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2019. Alessio’s research interests are multiscale modelling and simulations of complex systems, molecular modelling of soft and solid-state matter via full-atom and coarse-grained molecular dynamics, molecular thermodynamics, meso- and macroscopic modelling of multiphase polydisperse systems, microfluidics, heat and mass transfer, numerical methods, computational fluid dynamics. Alessio is based in London, UK.

Senior Editor: Mo Qiao, PhD, Springer Nature, UK

Mo joined the company in January 2020 as an Editor at Nature Communications, handling manuscripts broadly in energy storage. She moved to Nature Chemical Engineering in June 2023. Mo received her PhD from Queen Mary University of London before taking a postdoctoral research position at Imperial College London. Mo has a background in chemical engineering and materials science. Her research interests include energy materials and their applications in energy storage and conversion systems such as batteries and fuel cells. Mo is based in London, UK.

Senior Editor: Yanfei Zhu, PhD, Springer Nature, China

Yanfei joined the company in January 2024. She started her editorial career as Cell Press as a founding editor of Chem Catalysis in 2021. She obtained her master's degree in 2017 from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and her PhD from the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST, CAS, China). After her PhD, she also worked as a postdoctoral fellow at NCNST. Yanfei's research interests are in heterogeneous catalysis and materials science; she is particularly interested in catalysis for energy-related applications. Yanfei is based in Shanghai, China.
